Guns in the USA

This article is written by Eric Schnurer
the original news article came from U.S News and World Report

The main topic of Eric Schnurer is the fact that the U.S gun issue cannot be solved alone with promises from the political realm. Lots of changes have to do with our culture, and how we view things, he points out the fact that in politics money talks and get things done, which is true. For our country to start to change our society needs to first change its views, by people going out there and informing us about the issue, and methods to fix that issue. In his article, his audience is clearly the general public though you can tell he's on the left wing because he does target the right a little bit. One thing he said in his article " we don't have a culture of violence in America because of our lax gun laws:  We have lax gun laws because we live in a culture that actively supports gun violence". I do agree a lot of cultures has been focusing on violence in any good movie we have watched in this country most of them have guns in it. In our entertainment, it has been very relaxed with guns.

One he also points out that many people state that the Swiss are a country that has a similar level of guns as the U.S but doesn't have that many mass shooting because of the fact that they teach safety and responsibility in their culture. I  would've also put the fact that almost all Swiss needs military service and the fact that guns are quite normal in their society. For me, this issue here in the U.S is the fact that even though we have many guns in our society there is still a large percentage of people here who have never fired or held a gun in their life to what ends mostly fear of guns. If we really want to change our culture views of guns our whole society needs to know what is a firearm. In the U.S I think it's important that people do handle a firearm at a young age, and also how to safely handle them with care. knowing the weapon you hold kind of gives you a sense of responsibility. Another thing he points out is that the military has loads of weapon but almost nearly doesn't have mass shootings, but he does say that we heavily regulate it. Agreed that we do heavily regulate it, every weapon we have in the military is registered to someone in the military and often you'd have to sign that weapon out.

Though in the military someone is always armed and that usually  NCO and more than two. Why we don't really have much mass shooting in the military is 1 were always armed or our duty NCO are always armed.  2nd it has been hammered in our brain about gun safety and how to properly use our weapon efficiently. 3rd we consider everyone as a family it's kinda hard to shoot at your own family and finally that fact that our military is a different culture, its a warrior culture so if we did have beef between each other I'd be hand to hand instead of guns. Extra is the fact that after a while your rifles get annoying especially when you have to carry it all day long and of course, the safety rules we have for our rifles like watch your muzzle or don't leave your weapon unintended.

I do agree with the fact that our culture really needs to change first before we have a positive change in our government. Its important to the fact that we first change our cultural views in this case of guns. In movies, they tend to glorify guns and misinterpret them. For example, silencers aren't silent they are still loud.
